In 2013, we had an epiphany.
Could scientific instruments be built to run on the web?

If we could pull it off, we knew...

People would have access to powerful scientific tools from diverse places.

Anyone, anywhere could work together.

Same project, same method, same run.

And questions like "Am I using the latest approved process" would become a thing of the past.

In 2013, the first collaborative chromatography instrument was born:
Arista VF1

In 2015, we pioneered coordinated instruments in the cloud with Junction.

In 2016, we released Arista Slice for a fully cloud-based chromatography platform.

Then, in 2019, a huge company introduced an instrument that looked like Arista Slice.

We were flattered.

Not everyone was as optimistic as we were.

You'd have to pry my system out of my cold, dead hands.
Chromatography in a browser? Sounds like a nightmare.
Only a crazy person would store corporate data in the cloud.
Cool idea, but it can't do everything my current system does.

As people began working with Arista and Junction...

Sharing buffers, methods and results really simplifies workflows.
Always having the latest method is really cool.
Overall, protein purification happened faster, and more runs were right the first time.
Live collaboration let experienced scientists help people who were struggling.
Working together on a problem is fun.
